D&B arrived in Brazil in 1912. Ninety years later, D&B do Brasil is the most important international commercial information supplier in the country. What is the D-U-N-S number?

In the current global economy, the D-U- N-S® number became the standard to follow in the business world. D-U- N-S, acronym of "Data Universal Numbering System, a nine digits code assigned to every company contained in the world database. It is widely used as tool to identify, organize, consolidate information and enables the connection with more than 72 million companies in the whole world.

Companies of the whole world use the DUNS Number to link the information about suppliers, clients and commercial partners, providing them a more complete vision of the risks and opportunities in its commercial relations.

Internationally acknowledged as common companies identifier at EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and the foreign trade transactions. The most important pattern organizations, more than 50 in the world, foreign trade industries and associations, and the Federal Government of the United States, acknowledge, recommend and/or require the D-U-N-S number.

Since it was introduced in the market in 1963, its use has significantly increased and is acknowledged as global standard identifier of companies to:

American National Standards Institute, United Nations, European Commission (EDIRA), International Standards Organization (ISO), United States Federal Government, Electronic Commerce Acquisition Team (ECAT), Federal Energy Regulating Commission (FERC), United States Postal Service (USPS), North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
